Upstart at the ArkWelcome to Upstart at the Ark, a Christian outreach after-school program that is tailored to the needs of children K-5. There is a one-time registration fee of twenty-five dollars, with the monthly charge of $225.00 regardless of Spring break or Christmas vacations. There is no extra charge when children are procured early for teacher work days, which end at 12:00 noon.
The program is designed to fully engage each child with reading tutoring by the Island Women’s literacy group, addressing any problem areas noted by teachers, a completion of daily homework in our Tutor/Computer area, coupled daily with leisurely activities. Upon arrival, each child will have a snack/drink and “downtime” whether by outside activity, a creative station venture or story/puppet time with “Miss Molly.” Next, the children will have the opportunity to experience “Music Mondays” by Day Carols which provides exposure to various genres of singing and music. As a bonus, “Miss Sherry” will prepare the children for an end of year concert which parents may attend. There will be “Free-bee Fridays” with a special snack (popcorn/drink) enjoyed as a movie is shown or activities through our in-house Wii Resort (Table tennis, Bowling, Skiing, etc.), which will both be awarded through our weekly reward system. |

Finally, there will be an extra class available the second part of the year called “Manners Matter” equipping our children for a sound social upstart in life. School pick-up occurs promptly from Carolina Beach Elementary at 2:30 pm with our day ending promptly at 6 pm. There is a late fee that will be assessed for every ten minutes that there is a tardy pick-up unless prior arrangements are made with the Director.
Your child is the most important factor to the teachers at Upstart, with the latest technology in security. We strive to give each child the care and attention that they need to have a good “upstart” in life. Registration forms are below which can be completed and brought to our church office.
